Deathbird is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and can be found outdoors in the south-eastern part of the Weeping Peninsula. Like most lesser bosses in Elden Ring, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it to advance the story.
As you may know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

This boss will only spawn at night, so if you get there during the day, just rest at a nearby Site of Grace and pass time until Nightfall.
Deathbird looks like a giant chicken where someone has already gotten to the meat before you, as there are only bones left. It will come swooping down, apparently in a foul mood over its sad state, and try to pick a fight with you with what appears to be a very large fire poker.
It is highly vulnerable to Holy damage – as you can see, I use a weapon with Sacred Blade on it with great effect, taking large chunks off its health with every hit, so this wasn’t a very difficult fight.
I don’t know what it is with Deathbirds getting help from local wildlife. Last time it was goats, this time it was Vampire Bats. Not that it makes much of a difference, except roasted goat for dinner is better than roasted Vampire Bat ;-)
