Elden Ring: Demi-Human Queen (Demi-Human Forest Ruins) Boss Fight

Published: March 4, 2025 at 8:31:28 PM UTC

Demi-Human Queen isn't actually a boss in the sense that it doesn't show up with a name and boss health bar as the others, but it sure feels like a boss, so I decided to include it anyway. I would guess that it's in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, if it was considered a real boss. I'll just call it a miniboss.

I apologize for the picture quality of this video – the recording settings had somehow gotten reset, and I didn't realize this until I was about to edit the video. I hope it's tolerable, nonetheless.

As you may know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

You will come across the Demi-Human Queen sitting down and relaxing inside the Demi-Human Forest Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula. From a distance, she looks a bit like the large trolls you have encountered previously in the game, and that was actually what I thought she was until I got closer.

When you move into the ruins and towards her, she will stand up and start throwing some sort of white blueish magical rays at you that hurt quite a bit. It may also be at this point you realize how many adds are around her that you will have to deal with as well. At least for me, I hadn't noticed the number of them before they all stood up and joined the fight. Headless chicken time.

As always, when in danger or in doubt, run in circles scream and shout, or in this case quickly backpedal out of the ruins while keeping the smaller enemies at bay. They will follow you out, but the Queen herself is too large to do so if you stay in the front area of the ruins. She will happily keep firing her medieval death rays at you though, but it appears that they will also kill her minions if they get caught in the crossfire.

As usual, when I have to deal with many enemies at once, my lack of ability to multitask becomes evident, so there is quite a bit of running around like a headless chicken while trying to fend them off in this video. I actually wish I was allowed to use an old Benny Hill theme song, it would add that extra bit of class.

The small enemies aren't particularly tough, it's just the sheer number of them that can be problematic. And then the Queen trying to get some cheap shots in while your attention is elsewhere. She may not be officially flagged as a boss, but I'm pretty sure she has attended Bossing 101 and already learned to not play fair, ever.

Once all her minions are dead, it's time to dispose of Her Majesty the Not-Quite-A-Boss-Queen Herself. She's in a foul mood like most bosses (I guess it's true that power corrupts) and will do her best to finish what her minions couldn't.

Once you don't have to deal with all the other enemies anymore, she's actually not horribly difficult. She will try to bash you with her staff and she keeps shooting death rays in your general direction as well, but she doesn't have a lot of fast attack patterns and complex combos like some other bosses. She actually does feel a lot like those big trolls to fight, except for the ranged attacks.

Please remember that headless chickens aren't bad. They taste just like regular chickens ;-)
