Elden Ring: Leonine Misbegotten (Castle Morne) Boss Fight

Leonine Misbegotten is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found in the semi-hidden area you get to after fighting your way through Castle Morne on the southernmost tip of the Weeping Peninsula.

As you may know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Leonine Misbegotten is in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found in the semi-hidden area you get to after fighting your way through Castle Morne on the southernmost tip of the Weeping Peninsula.

If you have completed Irina's quest to deliver the letter to Edgar, you can summon Edgar for this fight. I had done the quest, but made do without him.

The boss will come charging at you as soon as you enter the fog gate, apparently not very impressed with visitors who has killed all his minions in the castle on the way there. Fortunately, he's a fair distance away, so you have a moment to compose yourself and get ready for action.

He jumps around a lot and moves very quickly. He appears to be quite good at dodging ranged attacks – I didn't really go ranged, but I'm using the Sacred Blade Ash of War on the Spear +7 I took from Patches, and when you charge that up, it fires some sort of holy frisbee, but the boss managed to dodge that at least once.

The boss appears to be a lion-like humanoid wielding a large sword. I don't know what it is with armed kitties in this game, but this one is certainly quite the sourpuss ;-)

It is a boss version of the Misbegotten Warriors you have encountered throughout Castle Morne. It attacks very quickly and aggressively, so if you're going melee, do make sure that you have located your roll button before starting this fight.

As far as I could tell, there is only one phase, so you can largely keep the same rhythm and don't need to adjust your strategy during the fight. The boss does have many different combos and far-reaching attacks, so stay alert and make sure to punish him during the small openings.

I found him rather difficult at first, but like many other bosses in this game, it's just a matter of learning attack patterns and figuring out when it's safe to return some pain. This being my first Greater Enemy Boss in the game also made it an interesting experience.
