Elden Ring: Mad Pumpkin Head (Waypoint Ruins) Boss Fight

Mad Pumpkin Head is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and can be found in the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave, down some stairs and through a fog gate. He looks like a large humanoid with a huge pumpkin for a head and wields a crude looking flail. Defeating him gives you access to Sorceress Sellen.

As you may know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Mad Pumpkin Head is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and can be found in the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave, down some stairs and through a fog gate.

He looks like a large humanoid with a huge pumpkin for a head and wields a crude looking flail that he happily tries to use to turn your head into mush.

He also likes to chase after you and try to hammer you into the ground with his big head. I'm pretty sure I'd be mad too if that was my power attack. Or at least have an above average consumption of Aspirin.

You may have encountered similar enemies outdoors, particularly one on a bridge in northern Limgrave. That one seems far more obsessed with banging its head into the ground though.

The boss doesn't feel very difficult to fight, but to be fair I had missed it at first and didn't come across it until I was combing through the starting area for missed stuff after being done with Weeping Peninsula, so I was probably a bit over-leveled at this point.

Once you kill the boss, you can open the door at the back of the room. You probably expect a juicy treasure chest there, but instead you'll find a Graven Witch (whatever that is) called Sorceress Sellen who is both a quest-giver, spell-teacher, merchant and potential summon for later boss fights.

As much as I like juicy treasure chests, I'll admit that she might actually be more useful ;-)
